Midi Me

Sweater: America, Dress worn as skirt: Mossimo, Shoes: Brian Atwood, Bag: Tory Burch, Sunnies: Stella McCartney, Belt: H&M, Necklaces: J. Crew, Saks, Banana Republic, Erika Pena, Veronique

Sunday I found myself with "nothing to wear" (famous last words) for a lunch meeting and there was no time to mope & think about all of the things I was lusting after that weren't currently residing in my closet ...I needed to think quick, be inventive and get a move on it. Enter...dress worn as a skirt. One of my favorite trends this season is the elegant and ever so innocent Midi skirt. So while standing in my chonies (great picture, isn't it?) the lightbulb went off, I stepped into gear and turned the plain dress into a fab midi! Success...Sometimes it's all about making a purse out of a sow's ear, u know?

What do you do when you have "nothing to wear"?

i love your dress turned midi skirt!! you look so ladylike and elegant!! i can't get over your shoes.. they're so crazy gorgeous!

I love how you take classic pieces and punk them out with something edgy, i.e. that midlength skirt and t~strap platform with that tough as nails bag.

I could not tell the skirt was actually a dress from the pictures. I have been there, you know, panicked thinking I have nothing to wear and only a few minutes to get ready and interestingly enough, I have come out with some of my cutest outfits this way. Just like you did, this outfit is awesome.

Um take a look at your blog for some inspiration? Seriously...!!

Ooh, I am in love with this skirt length - feminine and flirty, plus it allows one to show off their shoes. And yours are fantastic! :)

Great transformation! I have that problem every morning to which the Boy responds "you have more clothes than anyone I know" to which I respond "you obviously don't know that many girls."

I love the skirt. xoxo

Okay FIRST I want to tear all your necklaces off your neck..LOVE each one more than the next.

For my days that I "have nothing to wear"....I have a "go to" back up outfit that I always feel great in- like a black tank dress or something that I can funk up with different accessories or shoes. usually works.

Never would have guessed that was supposed to be a dress-it's such a divine midi! Since my office is prep-central (it looks like an Easter day parade in here most days), my go-to when I've got nothing is a bright colored oxford, jeans, ballet flats and pearls-easy enough!

WHen I can't figure out what to wear I go to my jeans and heels.

Kavery said...

I haven't perfected the art of wearing a dress as a skirt. Yours looks perfect. I've found it depends on the cut of the dress. Love the heels.

I love the dress as a skirt--it's perfect! And I don't think I've ever lusted after a Tory Burch bag this much.

Andi said...

Ok, you've officially inspired me to think outside of the box next time I utter the words "nothing to wear"...love this look!

Nora said...

you look amazing.. the lenght of that skirt fits you perfectly btw.. and that bag is awesome.. loved it..
stay cool..

Laura said...

This is such a flattering length on you! Makes you look so lean and tall, which you already are, but this accentuates it. And girl those shoes are hot!!

I typically turn to the blogosphere for inspiration when I feel a "nothing to wear" moment.

Kara said...

WOW! I can't believe that's really a dress. Great job getting creative. I find that "I have nothing to wear" moment a lot when it comes to outfits I wouldn't normally need. So when the occasion arises, I'm like "I knew I should have bought that (whatever)"
