It was such a beautiful crisp and clear day today, so I wanted to get out and enjoy the sunshine while it lasted (sorry to all my peeps in frigid climates, I don't know how you do it...tonight we are having a low of 37 and I'm frickin freezing my arse off!) cause the rain is a coming New Year's Day. I can already taste the jammie and movie day...what a hell of a way to start the New Year!

Happy Hour

After an excruciating 2 hours at the unhappiest place on earth (I'll take DMV for $200 Alex) I was ready to let loose and have a cocktail!  We decided to hit some happy hour action and I was feeling in a bit of a bohemian mood, so I broke out the ole' wide leg trousers and my floppy fedora (aka my hair needed to be concealed under something before stepping my butt out the door!) to hit the town!

The week between Christmas and New Year's is my absolute favorite time of year. The days consist of sleeping in, spending time with the fam, exploring the city, shopping, lunching, and day dates with the hubs. Basically, it's pure bliss. Yesterday the hubs and I went to Sushi Roku (one of our absolute fave spots...if your in L.A., Vegas, or Scottsdale you need to get in on that shizznat!) for an amazing lunch and then headed to Beverly Dr. to shop for some new gear. Puuurfect day!

 I'm still reveling in all of the fun that was had over the Christmas weekend. Amazing family, great friends, good drinks, food, food, and more food...Jeez! I'm mean you would have thought they were rationing it with the way I was shoveling it in...BEST. WEEKEND. EVER. I still managed to get into my fave new army green cargos though!

Fringe

I'm toying with the idea of cutting some fringe...every time I see bangs straight across I immediately want to take scissors to my head and start chopping....bowl cut anyone?. But then I am continuously reminded of when I did have them they would never stay straight across, separate in the middle and then I would eventually end up looking like I was in Mrs. Wisdom's 2nd grade class again...not. a.  good.  look.  But I have been seeing a ton of bobs with fringe and I'm totally feelin' it...

Chocolate Madeleine's

Everyone needs an easy "go to" recipe that is simple and quick. Well, here us one that is so easy and so delish..a sure fire way to make you look super fancy at your next party!

Take store bought Madeleine's, a pound of dark chocolate (melted over a double boiler), and dip each cookie half way.

Place on a cookie sheet with foil or parchment paper, stick in fridge (to allow chocolate to harden) and then serve away!

It's Raining, It's Pouring...

And the old man was definitely snoring in Lala land ALL weekend long...and it hasn't stopped (I do love the weather, but trying to motivate yourself to get things done instead of getting in your jammies and watching a movie is nearly impossible)! I attempted to hit the mall on Saturday to finish up the rest of my gift purchasing (which clearly all the cookie eating has gone to my head..I mean honestly, who goes to the mall at 1pm the Saturday before xmas?!) and this is what I ran right into...dead stop traffic as I entered the mall parking lot. After 35 trapped minutes in the parking lot, I was over it. So, I called it a day went back home wrapped some gifts (the few I had) put "The Holiday" on, had a glass of red with the hubs and called it a night! Sa-weet.

Yesterday was 'operation get my a** up early' so I can beat the crowds...and I'm happy to report it was successful mission! I even made it to Target..(impressive, I know)

(I'm holding on to that umbrella for dear life...Easy with the white knuckles sister. It could have something to do with the fact that the umbrella belongs to my 5 year old nephew and it was just a wee bit small? Just a thought.)

Flare Up

I'm not talking about anything crazy except the flare leg trend I'm seeing for Spring 2011!  In the early 90's I had a serious love affair with flared leg pants and I rocked the hell out of them until wearing them became fashion suicide (um, yes really). As we all know, fashion trends are like volcanoes...they erupt like crazy and then they go dormant for a decade until it's time to break out the red hot look again. I've highlighted the denim flare legs in this post....enjoy!
