I was hard at work making my first fondant cake for a baby shower my sister and I gave.
We just had a hoot (sorry I had too) getting into all of the details! If you didn't notice

Every time I put this coat on it makes me feel like I stepped straight out of the 70's

and I'm about to head out on the town with Penny Lane and the Band-Aids.

My nephew thinks I look like Falcor from Never Ending Story but we'll just go with the

more glamourous option of the 2!

While the temps have dropped quite a bit, it was the perfect thing to throw on yesterday.

*Please note anything below 50 is considered chillllly...hence the big fur coat.

It's just such a fun novelty piece that definitely makes

quite a statement when worn out in public....even in L.A.!

After a week of being summoned to my bed by the flu, yesterday was the first time I actually

a. brushed my dome and b. dressed myself in something other than my leopard pajamas.

Although if one must be forced to stay indoors, leopard jammies are the only way to go!

In the haze that was last week, I was lucky enough to have the present man (aka UPS)

deliver some goodies, one being these Rag & Bone beauties.

I know I have waxed on about my love for R&G booots,

but they really are the most comfortable things eva!

The only other thought to share is that I'm bringing pasty back. Deal With it.

(On second thought, must take beach vacation asap.)

After a fun night celebrating my sister's birthday, Saturday morning Hubs and

I headed downtown to our favorite brunch spot Bottega Louie to eat our faces off (see here and here).

BL is epic on all levels. If your in L.A. it's a must. And don't even get me started on the salted caramel macaroons. A little round piece of heaven.

I finally started my holiday shopping this weekend....nothing like

waiting until the last minute to get that shizz started! The mall was a complete

and utter crazy town (duh) but it was a successful trip. I'm proud to say I am

halfway done! Oy.

Sad that an amazing weekend full of food, fun, family, and did I mention FOOD has come to an end! The first grub session is with my fam at 2:30 and the second one is with his at 6:00. Needless to say it's a day of eating followed by tryptophan induced comas...totally EPIC. ;)

Signing off for the week on a sparkly note!

If you follow me on insta-gram then you saw a little sneak peak of this outfit on Monday. This skirt is definitely one of my favorite pieces from the store, and it was itching to be paired with something cool and casual! I grabbed the hubs' sweater, threw it over my denim shirt and dressed the sequins down a bit. And for those of you who have shoe clips or clip-on earrings (like above) laying around, they make some of the best additions to finish off a look...tie them to a piece of ribbon and make a necklace, clip it and wear as a brooch, stick them in your hair (fasten tightly with bobby pin), and of course attached them to your shoes.

The possibilities are endless!

When I get dressed in the mornings and I'm freezing my ass off I tend to pile on the layers to keep warm and the day these pics were shot was no exception!
My A. Wang jacket has become my go to 'woobie' (no really, I think I've worn it everyday this week. Don't judge) and throwing the faux fur vest over it was the perfect addition to spice things up a little. And don't forget a splash of leopard for the win...sa-weeeet!

When I was a kid, my oh so stylish mom always rocked the hell out of shoulder pads. Those of course were the days when shoulder pads were not only radical but also removable so you could take them out and rock them with every outfit imaginable. I would always take them out of her jackets and put them in mine and prance around! What can I say I wanted to be just like her...and still do ;)!

When I scored this jacket last year it took me back to those days and I instantly fell in love with it (not to mention the badass velvet fabric). I was chilly on this day (anything below 65 is considered chilly...total weak sauce, I know) so I paired it with one of the hubs flannels and was extra warm and cozy to take on the day!

Saturday's shopping excursion led us to Gap's 1969 store on Robertson...

One foot inside the store and it was an all out fun fest leading to the dressing room. Yummy

cashmere, walls of denim, Matt Bernson loafers, fun duffel bags, and the list goes on.

My sister and I both walked out of the dressing rooms sporting these snakeskin gems...

It was straight out of a scene from 'Twins'.

Needless to say they are pretty major and we are both officially in love.

And see....I wasn't lying about the boots!

Today I'm heading to see my nephew start his first day of 1st grade...WTF?! I feel like he was just born! Isn't it amazing how fast the time goes? Sometimes I wish I could freeze certain moments and make them last forever. Here's to a great 1st year for my little man!

I know my SF peeps said last week/weekend was one of the warmer ones but I was just not prepared for the wind (see last pic...I mean, glamour shot all the way. NOT) and cold that was happening when we headed out to dinner. Once the fog rolled in, it was a bit nippy but that didn't stop us from cruising around Nob Hill and then making our way to Chestnut street. We landed at Delarosa in the Marina district and it was one of the yummiest meals eva...trust. Not only was the vibe of the restaurant super hip and modern, but literally every dish we ordered was off the hook deeelish!

P.S. Super obsessed with this tuxedo-esque blazer I scored at Zara...Go pick one up quick before they sell out!

SF Diary

We are back from 5 days of fun! Hubs and I took off for SF & Terranea last week to get away and start the celebration of our birthdays...you're supposed to celebrate your birthday for a whole month, right? Yeah, that's what I thought.

I'm all about improvising and using items for other than their intended purpose. Take these vintage clip on earrings for example...they are wicked awesome (yes, I just said that) as earrings, but they make the perfect addition to jazz up simple pumps! Dontcha just love it when I get crafty?! ;)

Ridiculously smitten with my new 3.1 Philip Lim booties that I scored on major sale at La Garconne! I'm a true 36 but I still get a little leery when ordering shoes that are final sale...especially having never tried on the brand before. 9 times out of 10 I have great luck and leave it to beaver I lucked out once again! This is the kind of gambling I like to engage in...shoe gambling.

So comfy and the perfect fall transitional boot...I have a good feeling that this is the beginning of a sweet love affair with my main man Philip.

I have had this dress for at least 4 years and it still remains on regular rotation...so easy to just throw on, stick a belt over and go. I especially love how my Bottega booties go so perfect with it!

But let's get down to the serious stuff. Love the dress. Hate the name. Why must we call this style a pussybow?

I know the name has been tossed around the fashion world for eons, but really? I feel like a five year old every time I have to mutter the very word! So filthy and yet oh so sweet.

To say it was an adventurous and unexpected weekend would be a serious understatement. There was an emergency appendectomy for the bro, entertaining the niece and nephew, multiple trips back and forth to the hospital, pharmacy runs, riding bikes with said kids, a bridal shower in between, a failed attempt at roasting a chicken and 2 very stiff drinks to finish it off. WHEW...mouth. full. It went quick but the bro is feeling better and that is all we can ask for!

Bring it on Monday, I'm ready for you girl!

After 2 months of looking at this sleeveless trench hanging in my closet (and on the blogosphere) I have finally put it to good use! It was the perfect choice to pair with this soft Splendid tee and comfy pair of jeans.
On a side note, this will probably be the last time I ever purchase a light colored leather bag....they get so filthy! Who has good tips on how/what to clean it with?!
